FireFly Day 1 - Complete
I’m sorry I haven’t been posting as regularly as I had hoped, but, the WI-FI at this super 8 is SOO SLOW! It’d be a total nightmare to even attempt to upload any pictures.
So (blah) text update for you :\
SOO! Delaware is..? Cute. When you get off the main strip that is. The main strip is depressing, as all strip mall type deals usually are. The BIG Kmart is especially strange and all the clothes are weirdly bling-ed out? But the people are soooooooo nice here and very helpful. The hotel is a hotel. It’ll do pig.. It’ll do. I just like having a place to crash that isn’t a tent! (Sorry campers - not a huge fan of tents) As for the festival it’s self - It’s very well run! There are lots of people - people dressed in hippy and hipster garb, jammin’ and strolling along. All the bands sound stellar! I got to see, OK, Go! perform their hit, “Get Over It” (which you should look up if you do not know) and I saw a great band I hadn’t heard of before called, Mayor Hawthorne and the County, that were off the charts energy wise! Everyone was dancing to them. We also got to see John Legend who was a true pro but.. Then we waited… And waited a little more.. for and hour and a half, slowly inching our way to the front (or as close as we could get) and then… JACK WHITE BITCHES! He was mind bending, totally channeling the old blue and that raw White Stripes energy!! He played classics like, Hello Operator and Ball and Biscuit. Along with some of his other bands hits like, Carolina Drama by The Raconteurs (one of my favorites) and Cuts Like A Buffalo by The Dead Weather. I was loosing my mind the whole show! The guy next to me was singing every word, the guy in front of me was singing every word, me and my mom were jumping the whole time! Then he ended the lightning packed show with Seven Nation Army. I could have DIED when he started playing it. There it was.. The classic White Stripes anthem.. Being played like, four feet away from me by the man himself! The crowd went crazy and we all broke into chanting the bass-line. That unmistakeable, “Ohh Oh oh oh ohh ohhhhh ohhh!” If you closed your eyes, it was like you were at a Stripes concert for a minute. You could just envision him up there in his red uniform with Meg hitting away.. It was a truly incredible show. The band was … They were just incredible. So on their game, so much energy. I couldn’t believe it! What a great musical experience! What a great experience in general! I almost feel like, now.. Now I can finally stop regretting never seeing The White Stripes when they came to the east coast! Penance paid :) But I still want more. Of course!
Anyways! Today there are more great bands in the line up! Stoked to see Group Love and Young The Giant. The headliner tonight is The Killers though, so I’m most stoked for that!! Mr. Brightside is one of my favorite songs!
I’ll talk to you all soon! PEACE, LOVE AND PROSPER!
